Not really; the mailing list is fine.

I can't replicate this.  Even if I set my umask to 027, I still get
world-readable files and directories.  Can you try setting "umask 022"
before running "make install" as root to see if that fixes it?

The online documentation explains all of this.  I would start at
https://mailmunge.org/docs/Mailmunge.php and then move on to
https://mailmunge.org/docs/Mailmunge__Filter.php and
https://mailmunge.org/docs/Mailmunge__Filter__Compat.php

Equivalently, you could use:
    man Mailmunge
    man Mailmunge::Filter
    man Mailmunge::Filter::Compat

once Mailmunge is installed.
